We're going to a ball game!

My husband is a fan of every sport known to man. But the Chicago Cubs are near and dear to his heart. He even has a little card he carries in his wallet that states he is a member of the Cubs fan club. He got it when he was 5. This is a team that hasn't won the World Series in 99 years. That's right. 99! They have been cursed by a goat, as the story goes. And so they never, ever win a season. But every year their fans rally with support, and every year their dreams get dashed. I have been a bystander to this craziness for 8 years now.
Tonight, the Cubs are playing up in Toronto, which is a mere 2.5 hour drive for us. Brian mentioned it to me last week, but we agreed the timing wouldn't work out. I was scheduled to work, the kids would NOT last through a game, ect. However, I grabbed onto that idea and realized it would be an amazing Father's Day present to make it possible. I changed my schedule, and asked my dad to watch Joshua overnight. (We'll take Kaylee with us since I wouldn't subject anyone except my mom to 10 hours of teething and crankiness with her)

Last night, Brian went on and on about the Cubs this and that and they are ranked number one in this area and blah blah blah... someone got hit in the arm which walked that player and the bases were loaded so CUBS WIN!!! oh my. He's so excited because you know, this is the year they are SURE to win the World Series. After the kids were in bed, I pulled out the Father's Day card I had written. I wrote some sweet sappy stuff, included $ for the ball game and explained how I made it all possible. I got a pretty decent reaction out of it, considering neither of us are big surprise planners.

Now you know where we'll be this evening...venturing into another country on a quest to see the Cubs win another game. But let me tell you, I'm worried about crossing the border, and I'm worried about taking a fussy baby girl to a ball game. It's for the sake of love....

How was the ball game? I have been waiting for your next post about it, hehe. Oh and I got your message. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go to syracuse with you to meet your mom for lunch. That is a great idea. Let me know when you want to go. I am free most Saturdays, all Sundays Mondays and Tuesdays!

Hi! It's nice to meet you. Thanks for visiting me. I've enjoyed looking at your before and after's. You do a great job!
You asked how I can go thrifting with 5 kids...my kids are 11 and older, but I must tell you that they are almost as good at thrifting as I. And my husband and I consider a trip to the thrift store as a cheap and fun date. Some trips are very short, but even then I can usually find a treasure.
