Mr Clean brings magic

It's been a long time since I got excited about cleaning anything. But Mr. Clean is worth getting excited about. A few years back, when I was holding my itty bitty first born baby, e-mails were circulating about this product causing chemical burns on kids skin. After getting this scary story forwarded 8 times, I vowed to never purchase anything that could do that much potential harm to my bundle of sweetness.

Well, fast forward 4 years, and I have a little girl who likes to color on my walls. Nothing, NOTHING gets out crayon marks! I broke down and bought some magic erasers. Why hasn't anyone told me about this? Not only did the crayon marks dissapear, but my banged up walls look brand new. Places that I planned on painting are now scratch free. AWESOME.

I've rolled my eyes at the bulk size Magic Erasers at Sam's Club, but I can tell you now I'm grabbing that 32 pack next time I see it.

repurposed box

Yes, I ate the candy in this box. I had a little bit of help, but most of that candy is now residing on my back side. I think the empty box is pretty cool, and the change the color makes it even better. I'm not sure what I'll put in there, but I'll find something that needs a pretty purple box.
Years ago, one of my officemates kept a box like this on her desk. Every day I would walk in and think, "Oh my gosh! She has CANDY!" She kept markers and pencils in there and I was dissapointed over and over and over.

Spray painting an empty candy box works for me. I'm re-using something that would otherwise be tossed in the trash. With it's new color, I won't think CANDY*CANDY*CANDY every time I see it.

A pee pee proof matress

Knowing that I was entering the potty training era, I purchased a high quality waterproof mattress pad cover for my son's twin bed. I figured it was a good investment because some kids wet the bed for YEARS and YEARS. The padding was thick and luxurious with a plastic lining on the bottom. The first thing I did was wash it and put it in the drier. Yes, I actually put something that contained plastic as a main component into the drier. It melted and ripped, of course.

I wasn't about to buy another one, so I came up with a little plan to layer his bed. I bought a $.99 shower curtain and put it on the naked mattress. Then I covered it with a sheet so it will stay in place. Then I put the half melted, but still cushy mattress pad over that. The final layer is the sheet he will sleep on. This works for me...I think...I hope.
