Valentine's Wreath

Did you see those Christmas wreaths with the glass Christmas ornaments all over them? I thought they were cute, but I wasn't inspired to make them. I'm sure it had something to do with not wanting to buy ornaments at ONLY 50% off.

However, I found all these babies for 80% off and I snatched them up to make a Valentine's wreath for my front door. They were about $1.13 each box.

I found this heart shaped grapevine wreath down in my basement. I had covered in tacky flowers a few years ago and it was held down with floral wire and some hot glue. I ripped that gunk off within a few minutes and was down to the bare bones. I got some quilt batting and covered the grapevines up. I knew the ornaments and hot glue would adhere better to the batting than the vines.

I started gluing the ornaments on, but had to stop to give the boy something to occupy him. A pair of scissors and a piece of white paper kept him busy for about 15 minutes. I think he was tearing more than cutting, but I really didn't care.

(P.S. arn't those the cutest little pajama's? Kaylee has some matching ones too)

I realized that the white batting was going to show between the red ornaments, so I cut them all off (breaking 2). Then I found some thick red ribbon that I bought on clearance years ago and wrapped that around the entire wreath.

Phew... that was a lot of work. Maybe I'll get farther another day. Good thing I've got another month till Valentine's Day!

Are you going to keep us hanging like that? I never expected a cliff hanger on your blog.

Yes, the pjs are cute. Get a picture of them together in the matching set, okay?

:-)
