Sorting through clothes

I like to be organized, but keeping up with CLOTHING is kicking my butt lately! I have piles of clothes

* to give to my cousin's baby

* to donate to the goodwill (stuff I never really liked that much)

* to save in case I have more babies (just the really, really cute ones)

* to cut up for a baby blanket (all the stained clothes)

Yeah. It's driving me insane. What do you do with the clothes your kids grow out of?

I think I have gotten rid of most of them. I think I have some favorites saved. But at the moment I don't know where they are. My niece wore some of my daughter's clothes, especially ones I had made. But now I need to sort through my own clothes that I rarely wear and pass some of them on to other places.

Okay, first of all, I looked at that "Close Your Clothes" project on the other blog, and now I am speechless, so give me a sec to recover and then answer your questions....

Phew! I'm better now. As you know, I have two boys whose birthdays are only a week apart, so everything I had for #1 has worked (so far) for #2. So I use old diaper boxes and label each one with the season of the clothing and the size. That way, when it's time to use that box, it is ready to go. However, don't think I am that organized, because I have been also putting them back in boxes the same way after #2 outgrows them. I just can't bear to get rid of them. Baby clothes are one of my admitted obsessions; when I found out I was having boys, it became my quest to find the cutest boy clothes ever. And my boys probably have way too many clothing pieces, so very little is worn out or in bad condition. Once I can bring myself to do it, I will probably take some to the children's consignment store, Once Upon a Child (do you have one of those in your area?), or try ebay for the better pieces. Even though we are not planning to have more children, it just makes me sad to do it.

I am going through the same thing right now. I have a huge unsightly box of baby clothes in Gia's room, waiting for a garage sale I guess.
