Glider rocking chair

Check out one of my favorite blogs Thrifty Decorator Chick and all of her before and afters!

BEFORE:

I bought a glider rocking chair off of Craig's List for $50. It glides like butter; a quality piece of furniture about 8 years old.

This is the fourth rocking chair in my house. One was a baby gift years ago and is exceptionally lovely and expensive. The other 2 were free to me, and I fixed them up a bit. They are just regular old wooden rockers.

I wanted one for my bedroom that is COMFY for the upcoming nursing nights. At $50, this fit the bill for me.

I primed the wooden base and then spray painted it black. Then carefully took apart the seat cushion with a seam ripper. It was a little bit yucky, knowing that some other family and animals had sat on the fabric for 8 years. The cushions underneath were in great shape, so I kept them and made new slipcovers out of some FABULOUS fabric.

Old and new fabric. Isn't mine nicer?

AFTER:

I love it,

I love it,

I love it.

We have the same rocker, except it's blue. We just stuck it in the basement because it really doesn't match anything in our house. I never thought of changing the fabric! You are genius.

SO cute! I have a rocker just like yours and was too chicken to try and recover it myself. Maybe I'll try it now!
