Hairbands

Ronda sent me a link to some photo website where the kids had some awesome props on their heads. I love a great big flower. I decided to make a few headbands right away.

I grabbed a pile of stockings that I never wear and dug around till I found a pair of nice black stockings from my senior prom. I can remember shopping in Boston with my mom and girlfriend and my only purchase was a nice pair of patterned stockings to match my black prom dress. They are 12 years old. Am I a pack rat? What exactly is the definition of a pack rat? Because I'm pretty sure a pack rat would hold onto 12 year old stockings...

Anyway, I pulled out my nice sewing scissors and cut a section off one of the legs. With a little pull, it curled up on itself and made a perfect little stretchy band. I hot glued a little red flower on one, a gigantic red flower onto another and one of the purple flower shower curtain hooks onto a third.

Kaylee hates them all.

I should have thought of this headband idea a year ago when she didn't care what kind of things I did to her.

Here's the one with a really big flower. I feel like I'm dressing for a costume party to go as a 1920's flapper. I sorta love it, but it's totally not "me". I'm considering wearing it to my company's Christmas party with my red velvet shirt. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to do it.....

LOL that picture of Kaylee is priceless! I would not be brave enough to wear it...but maybe you should go for it!

I think it's pretty cool that you made three headbands from a pair of 12 year old stockings....perhaps you could make them and sell them on Etsy?!

You are keeping us in suspense! I am dying to know if you did/will be wearing the flower to your Christmas party. I couldn't pull that off, but it looks adorable!
