Milk Can

Here's a milk can that I've had since I was about 16. It's such a classic piece. I have no idea how it was ever used to store milk. Anyone know? The lid of mine is totally rusted on, so I've never actually seen the inside of it.

When I first got this from a garage sale, I spray painted it white and then stenciled teddy bears around the edge in blue. Oh yes I did. And believe it or not, I've still got those stencils. Who knows when I'll need to stencil teddy bears onto something else?

Over the years it's been sprayed white, cream and now BLACK. I think this is the color it's been waiting to be.

More pictures of my updated front porch here.....

You make me laugh - that is so funny about the teddy bears. I had a period of time when EVERYONE gave me stuffed teddy bears or stuff with teddy bears on it. They still linger in my home here and there. At least I have kids so I can make out like it is all theirs.

Love the can. I have lots of things like that passed down from my Mom (and her Mom) that have been painted 15 times and most definitely came from a yard sale.

That milk can looks great as front porch decor. I really like it in black. It looks classy and it goes so well with the black accents on your home and porch. It makes me want to dig out an old milk can that I have sitting in my garage.
Thanks so much for sharing your very inviting porch with us. It's got curb appeal!

The milk can looks great in black. My mom has one that she's been trying to give me for years but I never knew what to do with it. Good idea!

And your porch makeover is great. You've got some serious curb appeal now, girl.

Ooooh, I used to have something similar; I wonder if it's in the attic or did hubby toss it? that looks great, and I second the idea of your house numbers stenciled on it! Fabulous!
