Kari & Kijsa are having a mantle party over at their blog. I figured this was a good time to take an updated picture of my mantle and scrutinize it once again. It's an improvement from a month ago, but you would not believe how many different objects have found their way up and back down from this spot. If I shopped anywhere besides Walmart and Babies R Us, I might actually come across something that would look beautiful up there! Looking through the links I came across some good ideas (and some bad ones! ). I'd like to add a wooden applique to the front section to add more interest. I need something in the middle between all the candle sticks too... Any other suggestions?

I wish you hadn't posted this. I could spend all night looking at all the mantles on K&K!!!!! If it makes you fell better, yours looks a lot better than some of them. :-) It took me forever (years) to find the picture I have over mine. I like that big red picture thing a little ways down on the K&K blog. It has words on it? That would make quite a statement again your pretty wall!
I like the idea of an applique on the mantel for a little added detail to the woodwork. And I don't think you need anything between the candlesticks. I think you could just scoot them closer to the round thing and be done. They just need to look like they belong together, and now they're just set too far out. It looks great in my imagination with them grouped closer together, anyway! -Julia :-)
