I hope my children will look back on today
And see a mother who had time to play.
There will be years for cleaning and cooking
But children grow up while we're not looking.
Dusting and scrubbing can wait 'till tomorrow
For babies grow fast we learn to our sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs and dust go to sleep
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.
I love this poem so much (thanks Sara!) that I printed it out and stuck it in a frame. It sits on the ledge above my sink as a reminder that my kids and I won't look back with fondness that I kept the sink clean, but they (and I!) will remember times spent rocking, smooching, reading and tickling them. My mom did a great job of making me feel like designing Barbie clothes and furniture or coloring was the most important thing she could be doing with me. I want my kids to think the same thing in 25 years.

How true. Time flies with your children and motherhood really is about living in the moment and appreciating your children.
I have read this before, but it made me teary reading this. *Sigh.*
