I have a little accessory shelf in my walk-in-closet. I thought hanging scarves on the little coat hooks was a clever idea. It makes me happy even though I never wear scarfs. However, jewelry storage has been a problem. Yes, that is a shoe box holding all my necklaces. I wish I could say it's because we moved 2 months ago, but sadly they were in a shoe box long before we started packing up the old house. I was inspired by Lysa's organizational "swap and hop" idea of a jewelry board and made my own.
BEFORE: Shoe box storage
AFTER: Jewelry Board
Here's what I did:
1. I found an old frame and took it apart. The glass is not needed for this project.
2. I got some cardboard (to act as cork board) and cut it to fit the frame opening.
3. Cut fabric to cover the cardboard.
4. Attach fabric to cardboard with the hot glue gun.
5. Re-assemble the frame with the cardboard and backing.
6. Hang the jewelry up with upholstery tacks.
