I'm going through a de-cluttering phase right now. I can't throw out all the tiny toys littering my house (I do slip a few into the trash every so often) so I'm trying to de-clutter my own stuff. The top of my cabinets were bugging me. So I took everything down. Except that basket in the corner since it's stuck up there.

If the basket is stuck up there, why don't you go with it and put a few more baskets up there. I bet you could find a bunch at the Good will. Also, Michaels had a lot of baskets with Christmas fabric on the inside, that could be ripped out. See if they have any left.
I go through these phases too...I am in a no clutter phase but it's hard with the one basket up there ...seems like it's gotta be all or nothing...so maybe what Ronda said.
I suppose I could work on that basket down again. If I got it up there,I should be able to get it down! I'm not sure I like the idea of all baskets up there. Too hard to position them behind that railing...
Hmm you know I like baskets...so I would get more and put them up...or go shopping and buy new junk...
I'm extremely curious as to just how STUCK that basket is. Ha! Honestly, I like it both ways. I can understand how you feel, though.
what about more baskets and fake house plants... give you some green without the need of watering!
oh oh! or you could do seasonal fake plants.. like in the spring pops of yellow and other spring flowers... winter i see holly and bright red berries
A friend told me about your blog and how you have different cute ideas, so I thought I would check it out. So far, I love the ideas, it's so nice to make something useful in a different way. I have a couple on mine, but most of the time I just ramble. :P
Anyway, I don't know if I'm too late to give suggestions, but I have wine glasses on top of my cabinet. It gives it a more character. As for yours, I think it would be really neat to see something bright and cheery. It could be glass sculptures or something along the line of that. I don't know, I always love a cheery kitchen, and it would be out of reach from the kids hands
I like it bare. what i would do to make it look more lived in, is leave it empty (take down that basket!) and then do a backsplash!! that would add a lot of color and personality. white subway ones would be nice. or colorful mosaic ones (you know, the tiny tiles that are on a sheet). also, you could get a vinyl saying and put it up on the wall up top. something cute. but yeah, i agree with the uncluttered look!
