Papers: to save or toss?

For a while, Joshua was coming home once a week with a “sheet” from Sunday School.   I was able to toss those in the recycle bin pretty sneakily and he never missed them.

However, pre-school is all about papers.  Practice sheets, projects, workbooks.  I hate to think about how much paper they must go through.  Joshua cares more about these papers, but they were starting to float around my house, piling up in crazy places.

I bought a 3 drawer storage bin from Target for about $13 that fits in my mudroom closet.  I printed off the kid’s names and let them go crazy with stickers.  I still toss some of the boring papers, but anything he wants to save has to go into his drawer or mommy will toss it.   (Brian has a similar basket for all his junk too)

At the end of the year we are going to have to do something with that drawer, but for now I’m happy.

I’m half tempted to re-purpose these drawers into winter gear drawers, since the mitten and hat situation is getting out of hand.

We're having the same issue over here. I asked for a laminator for Christmas and I thought I'd laminate the 'good' ones ,and put them in a 3 ring binder. I think I might like your idea better! I've been wondering how many of these things I should be saving for her when she's older!

It's a tough situation! I don't grudge the paper because you've got to admit it's better than a slate and piece of chalk. But what to do with them all? Dan has been scanning our favorite papers and I've been saving them in a pile in my bedroom. I've got to do something better, though. If you weed through every once in a while, you'll find more you won't mind tossing. :D I like the drawer idea.
