Canvas Re-purposed....AGAIN

BEFORE:

A couple months ago I found this huge canvas at a garage sale for $3. It's about 4ft. x 5 ft. It was hideous....really. I primed over the yuckiness and then let the kids paint on it. What a great, cheap kids project! Then it spent some time outside in the rain (oops) and has been sitting in my garage ever since, providing a nice little home for spiders to nest.

IN BETWEEN:
I brought that yuck thing into my house and vacuumed the spiders out. I stapled some lovely fabric (60% off at Joann Fabrics) to make a fake headboard for my room.
Here's the canvas covered up with beautiful fabric and staples. I'd like to frame it out with some chunky molding so it looks more finished......eventually.
AFTER:

Here's a before shot of the naked bed. Notice the cream carpet, cream walls, white bedding? Boring. I'm just a tad scared of committing to color. I've been able to put it off because it's been good enough: it's not messy or cluttered and when the bed is made, I'm pretty happy. BUT, it obviously could use some attention. I have a list of 12 or more things to do in this room, and we'll see how far I get before baby L comes.
This "headboard" is the first little project (and I do mean little-less than 20 minutes) towards my goal of a beautiful room.

I'm crazy about this blue flowery fabric. My curtains will be partially made of this. I covered up the green pillow with some denim fabric I got at a garage sale, then added a little panel of the delish fabric on top. No measuring, just eyeballing the whole thing and sewing up some straight-ish lines. Love it!

And just because I loved this project so much,, I checked to see if there are canvas's listed on Craig's list. Guess what? I found an even bigger one: 6x6 feet for $5 in my town. I'm not sure where I'd put it, but I'm tempted to go get it.....
